This weapon utilizes a flywheel and runs off of six C batteries which are stored underneath its stock (two AAA batteries are required separately for the sight which is, by the way, attachable to other Nerf weapons thanks to the previously mentioned Rail System). Reputation

Aside from being a trusted name in toys for both children and adults, Nerf has a reliable reputation for fun and safety. The Vortex Nitron has been designed in keeping with that reputation. One young reviewer found the weight and balance of this mock weapon to be perfectly suited for both target shooting and Nerf wars. The device runs approximately 5 pounds with the typical but durable hard plastic design. This particular model combines neon green, bright orange and black. During testing he experienced no jams, relatively accurate shooting and satisfactory distance. The round discs (this model’s projectiles) are made of soft yellow plastic covered with yellow foam. The gun is recommended for eight year olds and up and received a four out of five star rating on Amazon. One exuberant 13 year old exclaimed that he was able to shoot anywhere between 35 and 50 feet, further than any of his other Nerf guns.
